Total On Road Charges Subtotal

Total On Road Charges Subtotal (Quotes / Vehicle)

Overview

The Quotes → Vehicle screen now shows a Total On Road Charges subtotal, giving a single figure for the combined government charges within a vehicle quote — separate from the broader Total On Road Price.

Prerequisites

  • A vehicle variant has been selected on the quote.

  • The quote has values for Luxury Car Tax, Initial CTP (net and GST), Initial Registration, Premium Plate, and Purchase Stamp Duty.

How It Works

  1. Open a quote with a vehicle variant selected, and go to the Vehicle screen.

  2. Below Purchase Stamp Duty, you'll see the new Total On Road Charges row, showing Net, GST and Total (gross) columns.

  3. This figure is calculated automatically by summing five government charges: Luxury Car Tax, Initial CTP, Initial Registration, Premium Plate, and Purchase Stamp Duty.

  4. Only Initial CTP contributes to the GST column of this subtotal — the other four charges don't carry a GST component here, consistent with how GST is already calculated elsewhere on the quote.

  5. Total On Road Charges is a subset of the existing Total On Road Price figure — Total On Road Price continues to equal the quote's other (non-charge) cost components plus Total On Road Charges.

  6. The subtotal updates live, without needing to save or reload the quote:

    • Changing the vehicle variant recalculates Purchase Stamp Duty, and the subtotal refreshes to match.

    • Adding or removing optional equipment on the Options screen changes Luxury Car Tax, and the subtotal refreshes accordingly (visible immediately if you're on the Vehicle screen, or the next time you view it).

  7. If you clear the vehicle (by changing make, model, year, or body type), the subtotal resets to $0.00, along with the Total On Road Price.

  8. This figure is calculated for display only — it isn't written to the quote record. It's recalculated from its five source fields every time the quote is loaded, so it always reflects the quote's current values.

Expected Behaviour

Net Subtotal Calculation

  • The Net column sums the net values of Luxury Car Tax, Initial CTP, Initial Registration, Premium Plate, and Purchase Stamp Duty.

  • Example: Luxury Car Tax $3,000.00 + Initial CTP $400.00 + Initial Registration $800.00 + Premium Plate $200.00 + Purchase Stamp Duty $1,500.00 = Total On Road Charges (Net) $5,900.00.

GST Subtotal Calculation

  • The GST column reflects the GST component of Initial CTP only.

  • None of the other four charges contribute a GST amount to this subtotal.

Relationship to Total On Road Price

  • Total On Road Charges is a strict subset of Total On Road Price.

  • Total On Road Price (Net) equals the quote's other (non-charge) cost components plus Total On Road Charges (Net), and the same relationship holds for the GST columns.

Refreshing When Purchase Stamp Duty Changes

  • When editing the Vehicle screen and changing the vehicle variant, Purchase Stamp Duty is recalculated as a result.

  • The Total On Road Charges Net, GST, and Total spans update immediately to reflect the new Purchase Stamp Duty value.

Refreshing When Luxury Car Tax Changes

  • When editing the Options screen, adding or removing optional equipment can change Luxury Car Tax.

  • The on-road charges subtotal recalculates as a result, and the updated value is visible as soon as the Vehicle screen is viewed.

Resetting When the Vehicle Is Cleared

  • If the vehicle is cleared — for example by changing make, model, year, or body type — the Total On Road Charges Net, GST, and Total spans reset to $0.00.

  • The Total On Road Price spans reset to $0.00 as well.

Display-Only, Not Persisted

  • Total On Road Charges is a derived value shown for display only.

  • Saving a quote — whether creating a new one or updating an existing one — succeeds without writing this subtotal to the quote record.

  • The subtotal is recalculated fresh from its five source fields each time the quote is loaded, rather than being read back from storage.

Zero and Boundary Values

  • When all five charge fields are zero, Total On Road Charges (Net) is $0.00.

  • When only Purchase Stamp Duty has a value (e.g. $1,500.00) and the rest are zero, Total On Road Charges (Net) equals that value ($1,500.00).
