Making a claim

How a driver submits a running-cost claim by photographing or uploading a receipt.

A driver makes a claim by photographing or uploading the receipt. The claim arrives in Catch-e in the same way as a claim from the Driver Portal, and your team approves it there.

What the driver does

  1. Opens Add claim on Home, or Claims & reimbursements under Profile.
  2. Taps the panel reading "Tap to upload claim or odometer reading" and takes a photo, chooses one from the photo library, or browses their files. More than one photo or file can be added.
  3. Checks the details the app has read from the receipt, such as the amount and date (where there is more than one image, the app reads them all), and corrects anything misread. If the scan cannot read the receipt, they choose Enter it manually.
  4. Adds any details the category asks for, such as the odometer, fuel litres, charging kWh, the home charging share, or a registration or insurance expiry date.
  5. Where Direct payment is on for the brand, chooses Direct reimbursement (paid to my bank account) or Payment to supplier (paid straight to the biller).
  6. Reviews and submits.

Rules

  • Receipt required. A claim cannot be submitted without a receipt.
  • Up to 20 files can be attached to one claim. A file that is too large cannot be attached.
  • The app reads a PDF receipt in the same way as a photo. Where the driver adds more than one image, the app reads every one and works out whether they show one receipt or several: parts or copies of one receipt are counted once, and separate receipts have their amounts and GST added together. The driver can change any value before submitting.
  • The phone asks for camera permission at the first claim, not during account setup. If camera access is off, the app offers the photo library or the phone's settings.
  • Where the app reads GST from a receipt, it is a cross-check; the Catch-e calculation is authoritative.
  • How confident the receipt scan must be before its values are accepted is set for each brand in the portal, under Settings.

No signal

A claim made without signal is kept on the phone and sent automatically once the phone is back online. Home shows how many items are waiting. A claim with more than one file needs a connection to send. A waiting claim that still has not sent a day later expires, and the driver retakes the receipt photo to submit it.

After submitting

The claim appears under Pending approval on the Add a claim screen, with See all claims beside it.
